Pastor Staneck, True Light Lutheran Church writes, that “the Christmas Story of Luke 2 comes from a place of deep grief. The birth of Jesus does not drop in on a world full of “hopes” and dreams, the birth of Jesus drops in on a world of grief. The people of the world grieve over the millennia-long occupation under the rule of death. God
himself, due to sin and death, finds himself in deep grief over his creation.” The Christmas Story in Luke 2, full of joy that it is, is a story that comes from a place full of sorrow.”

Pastor Staneck’s word struck a cord with me, as guests visit The Shepherd’s Staff every day in their place of sorrow. Staneck continues to write that our grieving is not without “hope.” And this, is where you enter the story. It is you that offer our guests the “hope” they need. One guest writes, “I came to Shepherd’s Staff when I was down on my luck. They were able to give me food and clothing. But more importantly, they gave me “HOPE!” They showed me how people really care about you. I was not judged or looked down on. I’m now employed and in a much better place in my life today. I often think back to the help and the kindness I received…and a smile comes to my face each time because this was the place where I received “HOPE” again. Thank you to the Staff and to those who donate to make this possible.”

It is because of you that those struggling in our Community have “hope.” You provide the thrill of “hope” that comes from a weary world rejoicing. Through your generous financial and in-kind donations, last year alone you provided over 5,000 households with basic essentials, car repairs, temporary housing, emergency home and car repairs and much, much more. We do this on your behalf and are forever grateful for your support. This guest agrees, “I couldn’t have made it without your love, support, encouragement and generous help!” You’ll read more
about her later in this newsletter. By the way, She asked us to share this, “Thank you! I love you all! Merry Christmas!” I couldn’t have said it better myself!

Wishing you a New Year filled with Joy, Love, Health and a liberal sprinkling of “Hope” ~ Grace and peace, Brenda Meadows, Executive Director  .
