“The little things that we take for granted, like household goods, mean so much to people.
Our Blessings Closet does so much to help our local community.”
Serving 2,500 households each year, our Blessings Closet provides free assistance with non-food essentials for household, hygiene, and personal care. This resource, supported by schools, clubs, churches, and businesses has helped families, seniors, disabled persons, veterans, working families, single parents, homeless adults and out-of-work individuals.
Our Blessings Closet is now open by appointment only Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Thursdays between 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. You must have an appointment and you must have a mask on to receive Blessings Closet supplies. Items distributed are based on availability. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please leave a message at 410-857-5944. Be sure to state your name and number clearly and someone will return your call to schedule a time for pick-up.
Due to the current health crisis, if you would like to make a donation to our Blessings Closet, please call our office at 410-857-5944 and leave a message to schedule a time drop off items.

How It All Began…
When The Shepherd’s Staff opened our doors in 1991, we quickly realized the overwhelming need for the free distribution of non-food items. We found that people, whether sustained on government assistance, earning poverty level wages, newly employed, temporarily out of work, or simply without a home – all need basic essentials for everyday living.
The first Blessings Closet was started in a jelly cupboard, which we crammed full of non-food necessities. Throughout the years, the small closet swelled to the point where one room and a basement storage now accommodate the program. It is from our present location, 30 Carroll Street in Westminster, that thousands of items are given out on an “as-needed” basis each year. Anyone in Carroll County is eligible to request items from the Blessings Closet, provided we have stock on hand to fill their needs.
If you or your organization would like to run a “Blessings Bag” drive, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 410-857-5944.
