What donation items do you accept?

Where can I drop off donations?

Donations can be dropped off, by appointment, at our office at 30 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD 21157 during our office hours.

We do not advise sending cash through the mail, as funds can be lost in transit.

How is The Shepherd’s Staff supported?

The Shepherd’s Staff is privately funded.  It does not receive funding from federal, state, or county agencies and, therefore, is totally dependent on community generosity and its own fundraising efforts.

What will my donation support?

If no donation selection is made, your donation will support our general fund, which will help us provide services to those in crisis in Carroll County, MD. If you would like to make a donation to one of our specific funds, please choose the fund on our online donation page or specify it on your check.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

The Shepherd’s Staff is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, therefore, your contribution may be tax-deductible. Please check with your tax advisor to find out more.

How much of my donation will go toward programs and services?

The Shepherd’s Staff is committed to using funds responsibly to create and execute programs for those in need in Carroll County. In fact, 88¢ out of every dollar you donate will go directly to our programs and services.

How do I make a donation in honor or in memory of someone?

You can celebrate a loved one with a special gift to The Shepherd’s Staff. To make a donation in honor or memory of someone is easy, just click here.

How do I include The Shepherd’s Staff in my will?

There are many ways to include The Shepherd’s Staff in your will, such as gifts tied to your estate, life income gifts, a charitable lead trust, and naming The Shepherd’s Staff as a beneficiary of your retirement or insurance plan.

Choosing the right planned gift depends on your personal circumstances and financial goals. Please consult your financial advisor to determine the right option for you. For inquiries regarding your planned gift, contact The Shepherd’s Staff’s Financial Administrator, Lois Giles, at lois.giles@shepstaff.org.

Where is my donation receipt?

Online donations: You will receive an email confirmation after submitting your online donation. This email serves as your donation receipt. You can print or save the email as proof of receipt for tax purposes.

Check donations: If you donated by check to The Shepherd’s Staff, you will receive a physical (paper) acknowledgement of your gift through the mail after your donation has been processed.

My company matches my gifts to 501(c)(3) organizations. Is The Shepherd’s Staff eligible to receive this type of match?

Yes, the IRS recognizes The Shepherd’s Staff as a public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code. Thanks for requesting a matching donation!
